"You Are Here" Embarcadero Marina Park North - Downtown San Diego
I was one of several artists selected to beautify existing concrete picnic tables in Embarcadero Marina Park in downtown San Diego. With the goal that public art should create a sense of place, I literally put the viewer in their place. After translating an image of San Diego County into a grid of mosaic tile, I inserted a single circular spot of red designating the round seat next to the table. The seat, covered in the same solid red tile indicates to the visitor “you are here”.
