| | | | | Wind Sculptures 120” x 17’ This public art project involves working with the project design team and community to identify a creative strategy for incorporating art into a heavily used public park. After investigating the site, I observed the basic elements of nature were strongly represented by the striking backdrop of mountains and existing water play area. I decided to introduce the element of “wind”, appropriate in light of the name of the Park, “Las Brisas” Spanish for “the Breeze”. The design of the sculpture will allow for movement in the wind, and ceramic rings mounted on the pole represent the Beaufort wind scale, a 13-point scale for measuring wind speed. A base will serve as a compass to indicate the direction of the wind. The sculptures as designed will provide the visitor an opportunity to see and feel the environment and to leave more in touch with the natural world. | | Be the first to post a comment.
