Cardiff Elementary School Mural

“Off To School”

"Off to School" is a 40’ tile mural reflecting the ocean bluff location of the school. I included many of the fish found in the coastal waters just below the school; it is not uncommon to observe dolphins just beyond the surf break. All of the fish are represented in color as well as scale. While all of the tiles are hand made, I included small pieces from the manufactured donor tiles to cohesively tie the project together. The dolphins and fish are headed towards the classrooms with a sea turtle in the lead, remininding us that once again slow and steady wins the race.
